HOST: Welcome to our podcast, today I'm excited to have Dr. Jane Smith with us, an expert in wildlife observation and the instructor of the Advanced Certificate in Wildlife Observation Skills. Welcome, Jane! GUEST: Thanks for having me! I'm looking forward to our conversation. HOST: So, let's dive right in. Can you tell us about your personal experiences that led you to teach this course? GUEST: Absolutely! I've always been passionate about nature and animals. During my PhD, I spent countless hours in the field studying wildlife, which helped me develop advanced observation skills. HOST: That's fascinating. Now, what current industry trends do you see that are relevant to this course? GUEST: There's a growing demand for professionals with strong wildlife observation skills, especially in ecology and conservation. Also, ethical wildlife viewing is increasingly important as people become more aware of the impact we have on animals and their habitats. HOST: Speaking of challenges, what obstacles have you encountered in teaching this subject or practicing it in the field? GUEST: One challenge is helping students understand the nuances of animal behavior and habitat assessment. It takes time and practice to become proficient, but it's incredibly rewarding. HOST: I can imagine. Lastly, where do you see the future of wildlife observation and this course? GUEST: I believe we'll continue to see growth in the need for skilled wildlife observers. Our course prepares students for careers in conservation, research, and education, and we're constantly updating it to reflect new techniques and industry developments.
